Petaling Jaya Philharmonic Orchestra (PJPO)

Founded in 1983 and formerly known as PJ Youth Chamber Orchestra (PJYCO). PJ Philharmonic Orchestra (PJPO) marked its humble beginning with a group of young talented enthusiastic musicians, gathering together to share a common passion for classical music; with each, contributing their very own skills and touch of their musical instruments. Until today, the orchestra has matured and now has more than 80 members.

The PJPO was the brain child of Mr. Lam Siu Chong, who is currently the principal of L & J Conservatory of Music. The orchestra was established with the objective of widening the musical knowledge, upholding the standards of stage performance and personal development for the young and the mature classical music enthusiasts. Mr. Lam Siu Chong believes that when a person plays a single musical instrument, the scope of music, interpretation and appreciation is good but only limited to one self and therefore, narrowed. But when people of the same common interest gather to produce quality music, the area of attempting larger repertoire of music, excellences and contribution will be broadened and many good and challenging works could only be played as a group of people with the same common goal.

Since the beginning of the establishments of PJPO, the orchestra had held various performances both in the local scene as well as internationally abroad. As such, the PJPO is no stranger for the music enthusiasts in the Klang Valley.
